Two of New York’s heavyweights align this upcoming Spring/Summer 2013 season for a special Futura xSSUR capsule collection. Previewed at the ongoing Agenda Long Beach tradeshow, the collection will consist of a duo of black-and-white snapback caps as well as a range of T-shirts. The initial glimpse of the collection showcases Futura’s signature script font emblazoned across the front of two SSUR snapbacks. CHALLENGER x Stussy 2013 Spring Collection
Setting its sights first on Japanese label NEIGHBORHOOD, CHALLENGER now teams up with streetwear giants Stussy for a limited holiday capsule collection release comprised of a mesh cap, graphic tee and a rugged work vest. Welcoming 2013 and the forthcoming year of the snake zodiac, the collections sports a snake-ice cream cone graphic inside a “S” and “C” bike chain logo enclosure — denoting the first letters from each of the brands’ names. Ranging from ¥5,250-¥26,775 JPY (approximately $61-$313 USD), the collection is set for a January release and will be available throughout all Stussy Japan chapters.
Kith x Stampd “Just Dope” Capsule Collection
Pushing forward with a forthcoming capsule collection, retailer Kith has teamed up with LA label Stampd for a clean monochromatic selection of goods. Punctuated with embroidered caps constructed with lambskin and brushed cotton, simplistic T-shirts, a dual-branded lighter, and a luxurious black calfskin Nehru jacket that features careful tailoring, fleece sleeves and French Terry-knit lining for added comfort — this is the clear centerpiece of this collaborative project. Availability is offered currently from Kith NYC in-store and online, while Stampd LA is set for a web release on Tuesday, December 4th.
Deadline Ltd. x Tantum 2012 Fall/Winter Capsule Collection
It is often the case with stateside street brands that their overall aesthetic can be characteristic of one particular coast — East or West. For Deadline Ltd. — the brainchild of co-founders JUNBUG and NA — the ethos for the brand stems from both of their respective bases of Los Angeles and New York. The East meets West mentality of the label gives a sense of wholeness and well-rounded design details to the pieces that it mints. The style was recently adopted by fellow Los Angeles label, Tantum for a special seasonal capsule collection that sees the duo aligning for a few limited-run exclusive pieces. The collection pulls upon a decidedly militaristic aesthetic employing ripstop material choices and disruptive patterns to form a solid trio. Building on its Hawaiian Liberty Bucket Hat, Tantum lends its headwear silhouette to an all-over-print Woodland camouflage Liberty Bucket Hat iteration. Elsewhere olive drab ripstop plays its role on the entirety of a button-up shirt while a camo black pocket tee round things out.
